The hosts Bangladesh made a great comeback after losing the first two sets in the final match against Kyrgyzstan.
After winning three consecutive matches in the first round, Bangladesh defeated their opponents by a huge margin in the semi-finals and faced a tough challenge with Kyrgyzstan in the fight for the title. They fell behind after losing two consecutive sets. However, in the last two sets, Bangabandhu U-23 men’s international volleyball champion became the host Bangladesh volleyball team.
Kyrgyzstan raised their title hopes by winning the first two straight sets in the final at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in Mirpur on Monday. However, they did not succeed against the confident Bangladesh. Bangladesh volleyball team cheered after winning the title with 3-2 sets.
After winning the first set by 25-18 points, Bangladesh lost the next two sets; 25-15 and 25-22 points. They overcame the setback in the fourth set and tied the match by winning 25-19 points. Bangladesh volleyball team won the fifth and last set with 18-16 points and lifted the trophy.
Sheikh Ismail Hossain won the best player award in the final. Zianbek Ulu of Kyrgyzstan became the best of the tournament.
Sri Lanka defeated Nepal in the third place match to decide the third place.
