The Yankee stadium was born in 1923 and was home to the glorious American baseball loving craze; it is one of a kind with its unique horseshoe shape and continues to remain the most famous stadium in the world over the last 8 decades. New York had not won the World Series championships but soon after it was built in about 284 days, the New York Yankees won their first game against the Giants and beat them in series of six games!
The Yankee stadium boasts of the amazing achievements of its home team, there is nothing very spectacular apart from the fact that the men who played on home ground were the legends of the game that brought the stadium all its glory. It hosted the World Series 37 times! Walking into the stadium, one would certainly notice the Monument Park, known for honoring the stalwarts of New York Yankees, the men who showcased spectacular feat, thereby have their plaques adorning the walls of this monument.
Apart from the park you have the walkways exhibiting plaques of the players’ numbers who retired and their managers as well. If you didn’t know this, it was the New York Yankees who were the first team to have numbers worn permanently, and also shouts out loud to be the only team with the maximum number of retiring .Lou Gehrig adds his glamour to this Stadium as he was the number 4 who was the first to retire in 1939.
If you are planning to visit the Monument Park, get there once the gates open or 45 minutes prior to first pitch because post that you may not be able to visit the Park after games.
Remember the glory Babe Ruth brought to Baseball? He was the reason behind the construction of this marvelous stadium! The stadium’s dimensions were tailored for left hand players or hitters. This stadium is also called Babe Ruth’s home; his runs previously drew crowds to the Polo grounds to the effect that management of New York had to build a stadium with triple decks!
This massive stadium has altered its size about 15 times and boasts of offering the largest seating space for its spectators when compared to the 30 other ball parks that are major league. Bob Sheppard is the man with the commentator’s touch since 1951.
A seat at the tier box, would take you above the fields’ playing pitch whereas the upper deck gives you different seating perspectives! The aisles are narrow making it hard to reach the upper deck. You can see the entire stadium if you walk around its outer boundary.

Fraser Island is in some places very similar to scenes from Star Wars: It is the world’s largest Sand island. Four wheel driving along the east coasts Seventy-five Mile Beach or through the primal inland forests reveals an amazing mix of ancient rainforest’s and mystical sand dunes.
Due to the numerous amounts of sand dunes, it is a very populated area for Sand Safaris. In order to travel around the terrain however, you must have a four wheel drive, as the lack of paved roads will destroy any normal car.
Self driving tours have also become more popular as they are more coast efficient. The tour consists of 9 individuals, friends and strangers mixed, a rented four wheel drive and instructions. They then head out in a convoy for three days and two nights. There are both advantages and disadvantages to this type of tour. Some advantages include the low coast, the choice to decide what to see and where to go, as well as the ability to make new friends. Some disadvantages include, having an inexperienced driver, the change of a fatal crash and the possibility that the group may not get along.
If you don’t fancy sharing your safari with a bunch of strangers then it is possible to hire your own 4WD from Hervey Bay, Rainbow Beach or even on Fraser Island itself. All companies require a large deposit, usually a credit card imprint and you WILL lose it if you drive in salt water (so don’t even think about driving through those waves!!) A driving instruction video is normally shown and when planning your trip then driving about twenty kilometers in an hour on inland tracks and fifty an hour on the eastern beach would be about right. Be careful to resist the urge to speed as there have been many accidents and also, when driving on the beach, watch out for sunbathers on the Beach Highway.
There are an array of wildlife present on Fraser Island. One of the most talked about is the Dingo. Dingo’s are basically tame animals, and are only interest in the food that people leave. It is encouraged that you do not feed the Dingos while camping, nor leave food from them when you leave. In the past, people had feed the Dingos, which encouraged them to come to camping areas where the people were. Back in 2001 a nine year old boy was killed by a Dingo because of this. That is why you need to ensure that the Dingo’s do get a taste of people food.

Other tourist attractions include theme parks and surf beaches. The Gold Coast is also home to the worlds highest residential tower, the Q1 building. The Q1 building has the second highest vantage point in the southern hemisphere, the Eureka Building in Melbourne being the first. The building observation deck is located on the 77th level, where you can get an expansive view from Brisbane to Byron Bay.
The other infamous Gold Coast tourist attraction is the Bikini Clad Metre Maids. These were introduced in 1965 to Surfers Paradise in an attempt to put a positive spin on new parking regulations. To avoid tickets being issued for expired parking, the Metre Maids dispense coins into the metre and leave a calling card under the windscreen wiper of the car. The Maids are still a popular part of the Surfers Paradise culture but are now run by private enterprise and not by the local government.

Linking the inner city suburbs of Fortitude Valley and Kangaroo Point is Brisbane’s’ Story Bridge. Story Bridge was names after John Douglas Story, a prominent public servant under the secretary for education between 1906 and 1920. The Story Bridge was built to divert traffic away from the central business district.
Story Bridge was opened in July of 1940, and the design was heavily based on the Jacque Cartier Bridge in Montreal. It is the prominent feature in the Fiver River display and each night the bridge becomes illuminated. Story Bridge has also become a popular tourist and recreation spot, as you can take a guided walk to the top of the bridge.
During your two and a half hour,, 80 metre high climb above the Brisbane River, your guide will inform you of the bridge history, Brisbane and local landmarks. You will also have time to take in the most breath taking view stretching from the Glass House Mountains in the north to Brisbane’s Moreton Bay and Islands down to the Gold Coast region. Tours are available seven days a week, morning and night, the only requirements are that you must be at least 130 cm in height and at least 10 years of age.
The top of Story Bridge has also become a very popular place to propose. Since the opening of the tours in 2005 there have been an average of 120 couples signing up each each for Valentines Day climbs, over 500 proposals and 2 wedding ceremonies.
After you climb the bridge a great place to relax and grab a meal is in the Story Bridge hotel. This Hotel opened in the late 1800’s and is a local favourite. Story Bridge Hotel is responsible for the launch of the National Festive of Beers and the internally famous Australian Cockroach Races. The hotel also has a bar located in what used to be a WWII bomb shelter and an upper level, velvet walled martini bar. If you are looking for something outdoors you can always go to Captain Burke Park, located under the Bridge, which is a great place for picnics or a Barbecue.

The world largest sand island, Fraser Island, looks like a scene right out of the Star Wars movie. It is just a drive along the east coast beach or through the inland forests, where you will be awed by the rainforest’s and sand dunes.
The large amounts of sand dunes makes it a popular destination for Sand Safaris. In order to enjoy this destination, however, you need a four wheel drive, as a regular car would become destroyed due to the lack of paved roads.
If you are not keen on the idea of sharing your safari with strangers you also have the choice to hire your own 4WD. These cars can be hired from Harvey Beach, Rainbow Beach and Fraser Island. You are then required to put down a large credit card deposit, that will not be returned should you drive through salt water, and you must watch a driving instructional video.
Fraser Island is also home to an array of wildlife including the purest strain of Dingo. Although the Dingo may appear to be tame, you still must be careful as their only interest in people is the food they leave. It is not encouraged that food is left or that the Dingos are fed. Back in April of 2001 a nine year old boy, on Fraser Island, was killed by a Dingo, this event could have been avoided if the Dingos were not being feed, therefore encouraging them to come around the camp.
